That Man

I fell in love with a man I never thought I would,

I fell in love with a man non one thought I should.

A player of sorts, even a gypsy to some

But piece of my heart he took when it was all done.

He had a past, but don't we all?

Is my biggest fear that I took the fall?

A gentlemen by day, a wild man by night,

Even after we'd scream and fight.

There was something about him, I'm just not quite sure

His voice, his eyes, there was some sort of allure.

My heart will heal this I know,

But will my eyes still carry the glow?

In many pieces my heart now broken,

But my eyes now open, I've finally awoken

The Heart

Why is it we can know something or someone is so bad for us yet we manage to allow that person close enough to our heart to hurt us.

Do we think it won't happen to us? Or do we just only think with our heart and ignore the signs and warnings from our head?

I guess I just question this because I am in a point in my life where when someone tells you they care for you, immediatly you put the walls up and begin to distrust and shut them out.
